New Caledonia is a Pacific island of 270,000 inhabitants with mixed ethnicities, including Polynesians (10.2%), people from European ancestry (27.2%), and Melanesians (39.1%),. This study aimed at determining the prevalence of gout and hyperuricemia in the general population and the various ethnicities of New Caledonia.
Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and monophosphoryl lipid A (MPLA) induce, overall, similar transcriptional profiles in healthy individuals, although LPS has been shown to more potently induce pro-inflammatory cytokines. We explore herein whether MPLA could be considered as a synthetic replacement of LPS in immune functional assays to study anergy of immune cells in septic patients.
We hypothesize that chondrocytes from the deepest articular cartilage layer are pivotal in maintaining cartilage integrity and that the modification of their prehypertrophic phenotype to a hypertrophic phenotype will drive cartilage degradation in osteoarthritis.
Environmental exposure chambers (EECs) have been used extensively to study allergic rhinoconjunctivitis. Few studies have been published using EECs in conjunctivitis only, and none have used conjunctival allergen challenge as a selection criterion…
Les technologies numériques permettent de faciliter le recueil d’information de santé et de nutrition par les participants aux études cliniques. Cependant, l’appétence à ces technologies est généralement évaluée en population générale, auprès de patients…
Angiogenesis is a key process in tumor growth and metastasis, as adequate vasculature and blood supply ensures tumor growth and development . In normal tissues, blood vessel growth is usually kept to a minimum, and angiogenesis is regulated by a balance…
The Pneumo-Quest self-questionnaire was developed to standardize the practice of recollection when welcoming a new patient. It consists of 82 main questions and 34 subsidiary questions to be completed at home by the patients before their first visit to a pulmonologist. This evaluation was carried out on the basis of 137 returned questionnaires.
The complexity of sepsis pathophysiology hinders patient management and therapeutic decisions. In this proof-of-concept study we characterised the underlying host immune response alterations using a standardised immune functional assay (IFA) in order to stratify a sepsis population.
Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is an anchor drug in the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Adherence to HCQ is key for efficacy. Inaccurate evaluation of adherence could lead to non-justified switch to more expensive or less tolerated drugs.
Initial combination therapy plays a central role in managing pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) [1–4]. Patients with low- or intermediate-risk of 1-year mortality at diagnosis should be
